While the existing mobile app had usable and informative elements, it was nevertheless difficult to navigate and inelegant. My goal was to improve on the original. To accomplish this I first communicated with gardeners to find what improvements and benefits they would find useful, and I looked at other gardening apps. Then I applied iOS Human Interface Guidelines and Nielsen’s 10 Usability Heuristics to help me design a new interface and aesthetic. Finally, I tested user interaction and created an iPad prototype with the on-line program InVision.
Primarily, outdoor gardeners who are familiar with digital tablets.
